Ministry in Acre

On April 10th Aaron set out on a small plane to Tarauaca. There, he met the local Baptist pastor, Edinaldo. He, another believer from the church(Irlean) and Aaron set out on a 4 day boat trip up river to Jordao. Jordao is a relatively new county in Acre that borders Peru with a total population of more than 5,000. It is only accessible by small plane or the River Tarauaca. There is no Baptist work but an Assembly of God Church.

While on the boat, they prayed along with each of you for God to open the doors for a new church start in this town, and they were able to do some much needed church planting training and planning. The first day they arrived, they met a man on the street who asked them what they were doing there. When they told him that they were there to start a Baptist church, he exclaimed that he had moved to Jordao to be a teacher and was a founding member of the Baptist church in Tarauaca and wants to be a part of this new work. The next day they met a lady who has lived in Jordao for more than 50 years and was influenced by a couple of The New Tribes Missionaries who had a base camp there while working with local tribes. The couples were Baptist and worked some with the Brazilians until things did not work out in the tribes and they left. She too is open to the new work. Then, they met the head commander of the military police whom Edinaldo knows that is an evangelical. He too is interested in being a part of this new church. One of the ladies whom they lead to Christ also wants to be apart. The mayor also welcomed them to start a church. They were able to witness to many people on the river and in the town. Each night that they stopped to sleep, they would tie up in front of a home and walk up to share the love of Jesus with them. Each home had at least 10-12 children which gave them an audience of at least 15 each night. During one witnessing opportunity in Jordao, Edinaldo, Irlean, and Aaron were standing on a wooden elevated walk way to a lady's house. While they were sharing the gospel with her, the walk way broke on one side, and they fell into the mud/sewer and weeds. It was definitley and experience to remember for them especially because they got back up , apologized, witnessed to her, and she prayed to receive Christ.

Because of your prayers, God has opened the door for a new church to be planted. God has placed a desire inside of Pastor Edinaldo (who is very dear to the hearts of our EBC Brazil team) to see a church planted in Jordao. We are praying that very soon Pastor Edinaldo's church will send a church planter to start the work and disciple local leadership to grow and plant new churches on the river. Thank you for praying for Aaron while on this trip and for the ministry that he and Tiffany have in Acre.

EBC Brazil Mission Team

This past month a new church was commissioned in Rio Branco. It is where we did our first backyard Bible club on our 2005 trip. We visited the area last year and saw that the work is still going on and then this year they have rented a building and are having Bible study for Adults and Children there. It is so amazing to for us to know that the seeds were planted and how God has blessed them and they are growing.

Our 2007 trip is scheduled for September - October . We will be going back to Tarauaca to Pastor Edinaldo' s church and witnessing first hand the growth there and then we will go to another interior village to start Home Church there. Please be in prayer for a "Man of Peace" to help lead that ministry.

Due to Tiffany having the baby in August and us arriving in Rio Branco a month later only, Bruce, Joe and Theresa will be going this year. We are also carrying Tiffany's sister to stay with her and the children while we are in the interior. It has been such a blessing to be able to minister to Tiffany by her sister going with us. Please continue to pray for our team as we prepare to go.
